I just realized I haven't posted anything in ages. How is it Mid July already?? Not much has changed around here. Kevin's still on the job outside Starbuck, WA. He got moved to a different crew a while back doing some wire and helicopter work and some other random things. It's been super hot down there for the past month, 100*+ every day. He's the only apprentice on his crew too, so he's been working super hard all day in that heat. I can't even imagine how hard it is, but at least he's having fun doing some different stuff. Here are some pictures I stole from his Instagram.
They've been working five 12s for a while now, so he gets home late in the evening on Friday nights and then gets up early to hit the road by 3 a.m. on Monday mornings, but it is SO incredibly nice to have him home ALL weekend every weekend.
The kids are thoroughly enjoying summer. They spend a lot of time with their grandparents since I work full time. I'm so grateful to have both sets of grandparents so close and so hands-on.
And this is summer....

Summer has been really fun. I think that 5 and 3 are the funnest ages. When they're not fighting, they have so much fun playing together and are so independent.
Last week we drove down to Kevin's trailer on Wednesday night and I worked from the trailer Thursday and Friday while the kids played inside the trailer. I was hoping for some outside play, but 106 was just too hot to be running around outside. We all got a little stir crazy, but luckily the Snake River was just a couple miles down the road and we were able to take a late afternoon swim.

After our day of sitting in the trailer getting stir crazy, we convinced Kevin to show us where he was working and he promised a glimpse at some cool farm machinery.

And then we convinced daddy to check out where we were playing, just in time for sunset.
It was a fun trip. We headed back home when Kevin got off work Friday night. Next up, a big family camping trip! The weather is much, much cooler this week, which is a little bit of a bummer when you're spending five days at the lake, but I think Kevin is enjoying the cooler temperatures.
As for him, this job is supposed to be coming to an end in August but he is hoping to move to the next Sturgeon job that is starting up soon in North Idaho, which would be closer to home. Our fingers and toes are crossed!! It would be AMAZING to have him sleeping at home every night!!
Also, exciting, he's almost ready to step up again, which will make him a third step. Looking forward to see what's next and keeping in mind, that we need to expect the unexpected and go with the flow. It's been almost a year since he went to work in Montana as a groundman and while it hasn't been the easiest year of my life, it has been a great adventure and we are making lots of fun memories along the way!
