Changing directions

When I started this blog, it was going to be to chronicle our family adventures. That is still where I am going with it, the adventure this time is just a little different than I anticipated. In January 2014, daddy went to the Avista Line Constructors school and started his foundation in the journey to become a lineman. Our plan A was that he would do the school, get hired on at Avista as a groundman and then as an apprentice and be able to stay home throughout the apprenticeship. Wishful thinking. He didn't get hired as a groundman, so now we are on plan B, which is getting an apprenticeship with a JATC program. He has applied, interviewed, etc. at Northwest Line and Mountain States. He ranked a lot lower than anticipated at Northwest Line and we are currently awaiting his ranking at Mountain States. In the meantime, just this week he quit his job doing underground line construction to take a call out of the union hall in Butte on a job by Bozeman.

So, this is the beginning of our family's journey. Dad's first week away from home. The beginning of miles and miles of highway time. The plan currently is that I will stay home with the kids and keep working my job and pay off some of our debt, save up some money, hope his apprenticeship starts soon, and then decide what to do. We bought a 29' Arctic Fox camp trailer for daddy to live in on the road. And...so it begins!!
